Voter Registration: Miami-Dade County Elections Department at 111 N.W. First Street, 19th Floor, Miami (305-375-5553) handles voters registrations for all of Miami-Dade County, including all incorporated municipalities such as Bay Harbor Islands.  As a convenience you may pick up mail-in registration forms at the Town Hall or you may register on-line.  Click here for information on how to register on-line. 

Homestead Exemption: Florida law allows qualified property owners to exempt the first $25,000 of property value from both real estate taxes and school taxes.  To qualify, first-time applicants must not only own the property, but also live in it and make it their permanent residence before January 1st of the year in which they are seeking to obtain homestead exemption.  Each year, the application period begins January 1 and ends March 1.  First-time applicants must apply in person.  In addition to a property deed and tax bill in the name of the applicants, other evidence of legal residency is also required such as voter’s registration, driver’s license, income tax returns, etc.  For further information, contact the Homestead Exemption Section of Miami-Dade County Property Appraisal Department at 305-375-4020.

Automobile Registration & Tags: The closest Miami-Dade County Tag Agency is the North Miami Auto Tag Agency at 12935 West Dixie Highway, North Miami (305-891-6424).  If you are a member of the American Automobile Association, you may also obtain your tag and registration through that agency.
